The Haze Double-Cut 2. Plenty of bark without a scary bite. The DC-2 has been hewn from a mahogany slab and armed with Gibson P-100 pickups for hum-free howl.
You wouldn’t be far wrong in calling the DC-2 a little bit special. All that mahogany—the body and neck—brings its usual helping of warmth to the tone. Add the Gibson P-100 stacked humbucker pickups, which are just a little more refined than their rowdy and raucous P-90 siblings, to the mix and the Double-Cut takes on a slightly more sumptuous attitude.
Don’t let that fool you though. Blues and classic rock are right at home here. This thing will growl with the best of them but its edge is a little more controlled and more easily tameable.
It’s got a slab-body with a glue-in, mortice and tenon, neck. A rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets with easy access all the way to the top. A bone nut and a wraparound bridge anchor things and provide the focus and sustain. The pickups run through individual volume and tone controls with the three-way selector you’d expect.
The DC-2 is topped with a beautiful oil and wax finish for a wonderful look and for super-fast feel and playability. This is old-school, grown up (but just a little).
